“The Last Repair Shop”

For the past ten years in February, I seek out a movie theater that shows the Academy Award-nominated Live Action, Documentary, and Animated films. I may not see all of the Best Film Nominated Movies, but I see the “Shorts.” These shorts are inspiring, challenging, make me cry, cheer, and teach me something each year.

“The Last Repair Shop” a short documentary about the musical instrument repair shop of the Los Angeles Unified School District and the the life journey’s of the students who benefit from the program and the artisans who repair the instruments.

It is magnificent! Life changing. I cried tears of joy, as music transforms lives. You can watch the documentary on Hulu or Disney+ and here is the link on YouTube.

Tell me what you think of the way the road spoke to all those in the film.

If you are interested in seeing the Oscar Shorts, head to https://shorts.tv/theoscarshorts/. Head to the movies and find the joy through film.

  1. Thank you…thank you Marcie for this…it is one of the most powerful…touching things I’ve seen and watched in a very long time…I cried through most of it…and I’m going to have my cello fixed…haven’t played in years…or maybe my clarinet…or piano…or baritone horn…what an inspiring film…music is food for the soul to be sure…..and a healer of the heart and life…
    Thank you,

  2. Thank you for sharing this. It is magical, and it reminds me that we never know the road someone has traveled or maybe even the road they are on now. I attended Detroit Public Schools in the 1950-60’s, and our elementary/junior high offered musical instruments. I played the violin and still have an affinity for violin music. I think my love of chamber music comes from my connection to the violin all those years ago.
