A Candle of Joy

If you have seen the children’s movie “Inside Out,” you will have met Joy.  She is one of the emotions of the main character, Riley.  Joy believes that she is the only emotion that is necessary and does her best to crowd out Riley’s other emotions.  (anxiety, anger, embarrassment, disgust, fear, and sadness) Throughout the movie, it becomes clear that without the other emotions, Joy is nothing.

The same is true for us all.  Sometimes, Joy can be difficult to find because we have so many other emotions running through us.

Psalm 30:5 says, “ Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning”.

I pray we look for joy every chance we get, no matter how small that spark of joy may be.

I enjoyed Inside Out and Inside Out 2. They are entertaining and help children and adults alike understand our emotions.
