Late last year, Julian Lennon posted on TikTok something that I took with me into 2025.
“Today I learned about a term called a ‘glimmer.’ Which is the opposite of a trigger. Glimmers are those moments in your day that make you feel joy, happiness, peace, or gratitude. Once you train your brain to be on the lookout for glimmers, these tiny moments will appear more and more.”
–Julian Lennon
This is what John 3:17 reminds us, “For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” As we await the birth of Jesus, maybe we should focus on finding the glimmers of hope this Advent.
Thinking about some glimmers….
A song that lifts your spirits
A Christmas ornament that you made in 1st grade
Walking in nature
Children are excitedly playing on the playground
So over the next few weeks, look for the glimmers and if you can, write them down so you can be reminded of the good people are doing and experiencing in this world.

About Julian Lennon
I started following Julian Lennon after watching his 2006 award-winning documentary, Whaledreamers, about the Mirning, an indigenous tribe from South Australia, which is available on Netflix and other streaming services.
You can follow Julian Lennon on your social media channel of choice. Besides his humanitarian work with the White Feather Foundation, he is a photographer, singer-songwriter, and children’s book author. And lives out the “glimmer” philosophy each day. His recording of his father, John Lennon’s, “Imagine” for Global Citizen’s Stand Up for Ukraine helped raise $10.1 billion to support refugees.
