God’s Faithfulness

God’s mercies are new every morning. Recently, I awoke feeling burdened by a myriad of challenges both great and small, from the feeling of helplessness as I read about current events and the suffering of countless people across the country and the world to the trials and tribulations of those I know and love. As I got ready for the day, I turned on the radio and an interview with the musician, Aloe Blacc was on. He was talking about his new song, “Stand Together” and the importance of compassion and community.

His words and music were just the balm my soul needed that morning.  God saw my weariness and reminded me that God is with me. God is with us.

Lamentations 3:22-23

The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness

I felt less helpless as I thought about how Aloe Blacc uses his musical talents to inspire others. I can’t help the world, but I can help one person.

1 Peter 4:10

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.

Philippians 4:13

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

So, as we walk through this Lenten journey together, my prayer is that we remember God’s faithfulness and our ability to be God’s witnesses in our world today. Let’s stand together.

None of us, including me, ever do great things. But we can all do small things, with great love, and together we can do something wonderful.” – Mother Teresa

Aloe Blacc was interviewed recently about his inspiration from Marvin Gaye and African Proverbs. Take a listen below.
