DO WE KNOW WHY, HOW, WITH WHOM WE WAIT?

As I sat quietly meditating on the season of Advent, I thought I should research some of the biblical scriptures that would enlighten and remind me about this special period that is called ‘ADVENT ‘and its true meaning. I’d like to share this with readers of this blog. Most of you probably know them already but it is good to renew and remind ourselves what they are telling us about the season. I give credit to our beloved bible scholar Sister Carol for her brochure on ‘Waiting: A Spiritual Guide for Advent 2007’ that I came across as I did my research and the titles and quotes are taken from that brochure.

WHY?

  • “While we wait for the blessed hope and the manifestation of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ” – Titus 2:13
  • “On that day the root of Jesse shall stand as a signal to the peoples; the nations shall inquire of him” – Isaiah 11:10

HOW?

  • “It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.” – Lamentations 3:26
  • “Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord.” – Psalm 27:14

WITH WHOM?

  • “Blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her by the Lord.” – Luke 1:45
  • “Nothing will be impossible with God” – Luke 1:37

NOW IS THE TIME

  • “If it seems to tarry, wait for it; it will surely come, it will not delay.” – Habakkuk 2:3
  • “Do not remember the former things, or consider the ways of old.” – Isaiah 43:18
