Good Friday

The bell tolls.
The congregation settles.
The cello’s mourning begins.
The violins and flute lie beneath
to accentuate the agony.
The bass voices entomb us
within the sorrow.

The sopranos punctuate our cry.
It’s the beginning,
our communal funeral march.
