My path seems distant or difficult, but I start.
Maybe I pray, talk, sing, or cry along the way.
I soon realize I have arrived at my destination.
I think, “that wasn’t too bad.”
But maybe it was.
That’s okay… I made it.
“What did I find along the way?” I ask.
Peace, clarity, affirmation, perspective, courage, resolve.
I learned that sometimes to start walking my path, I need to cultivate courage through my faith and through “others” to take that first step.
Sometimes, allowing someone in helps me walk the path, perhaps making me feel less lonely.
Scripture reminds me that I need not walk the path alone.
“Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me…”
– Psalm 23:4
“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: if either of them falls down, one can help the other up.” – Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
“Even to your old age and gray hairs, I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you, and I will rescue you.” – Isaiah 46:4
Maybe you find yourself at a crossway… a new path along life’s journey… not sure which way to go, what step to take, what decision is the right one now.
I understand… I was there, yet again… and what I found… the courage to share with a friend who listened and understood. There were words of encouragement, yes, but most importantly, listening. That’s what I needed.
