Finding the Words

Each year, I start thinking about the words that I will use in my Christmas or Holiday card. Try searching on quotes on “light,” “holiday messages,” “Christmas greetings,” or “hope.” While the Internet can be a negative place, this search reveals treasures and hours of joyfulness.

I send Christmas cards still. While many have stepped back, I find joy in sending and receiving holiday cards. Each day, I will receive a few and attach them to a ribbon on my door. As I courageously wait for the arrival of Christmas, I am inspired and lifted by the act of sending and receiving. Here is one message that hit me this year and I think of the followers of this blog as my friends now and a song that I keep wanting to hear:

As winter winds begin to blow,
And festive lights start to glow,
I think of friends, both far and near,
Who bring such joy and banish fear.

Your friendship, like a steady light,
Makes every day feel warm and bright,
A gift more precious, true, and grand,
Than any treasure in the land.

So may your holidays be blessed,
With peace and comfort, love and rest,
And may the New Year bring you cheer,
Especially, my special friend, this year!

I was reminded of how dark the internet is in places when I ran across a news story about a group exploiting children and making them do horrible things(via blackmail). I think one of our best strategies is to continue to share positive and hopeful posts like these to push out the bad and overcome it with good. I enjoyed your post. It really resonated with me.

Christmas cards between people from past days and distances keep others linked with us. It is a wonderful tradition that bridges friends. There is joy and light arriving at our door during Christmastide. Truly words and sentiments brighten this season! What meaning this still can hold!
