My husband and I were grocery shopping at BJ’s in New Jersey. It was a rather ordinary experience, but my husband observed the interactions of others while shopping.
At one point, a cart passed by with a Dad and a little girl about 1 or 2 years old.
They caught my husband’s eye. I wasn’t paying attention. The Dad was eating grapes and gave one to the little girl, who turned with a big bright smile, said in Spanish, “Gracias,” and happily popped the grape into her mouth.
My husband was charmed that she spoke Spanish. It made his day. Most second —and third-generation Latinos do not speak Spanish, and the little girl was a reminder of his own upbringing. I saw it as a GODWINK—God letting us know that our precious children will lead the way. Children embody all of the qualities below.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control.
Galatians 5:22-23
