“I am leaving my energy here,” as I held firmly onto the door handles. “I am leaving my energy here,” with my palms pressed passionately against the window. Every Broadway Theatre I approached, those words I spoke out loud. That was my solemn vow, my love language, my grateful knowing. Then with quiet and soulful reverence, I closed my eyes, I breathed into the I Am, knowing that God was hearing my mantra, my affirmation, my prayer.
After debuting in my first film at the age of 13, I knew acting was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. In my hometown of Chicago, I was forging my dreams. With every word, every action, every yes and every no, my dream was being formed. Through college, adulthood, 9 years in Los Angeles, tv, film, stage and music. With every role, every character I portrayed, my creative hopes were being divinely designed. And when I moved to NYC, my dreams continued to morph into the very manifestation of my desire.
Almost 13 years after my feet touched NY soil, my energy became my human experience. My vessel was filled, and my prayers were answered. On Jan 17, 2013, I made my Broadway debut in, “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” with Scarlet Johansson. The experience was Glorious as my faith was elevated. Never giving up, never letting go, I continued to believe, I continued to have Hope and God said “YES!”
Just Dream
If ever you feel
Like all hope is gone
If ever you feel
Like you can’t go on
If ever it seems
Like your heart Is on fire
Don’t feel like
You can’t be inspired
Just open your mind
To a great big scene
Just open your heart
To the love in between
Breathe deep within
With your head held high
Raise your arms
And reach for the sky
Just Dream
Until it comes true
Just Dream
No matter what you do
Just Dream
Until it comes true
If you Dream
I can happen for you

So beautifully expressed! Cherene, you are a light of God’s love in the theatre, and everywhere you go. May you continue to shine!
Cherene thank you for sharing your story; how inspiring and hopeful, just like the advent season. “Just dream no matter what you do”… words of encouragement for us all.
