Today is International Women’s Day. Started in 1975 by the United Nations and building upon some traditions dating back to 1909, this day is perfect to pray for all of the women of the world. Will you pray with me?

A Prayer for All Women And girls

Our Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer in Heaven,

Let us pray for all Women and Girls,
We honor all who came before us, like
Mary,
Ruth,
Martha,
Esther,
Sojourner Truth,
Helen Keller,
Harriet Tubman,
Emily Dickinson,
Susan B. Anthony,
Marie Curie,
Sally Ride,
Rosa Parks,
Eleanor Roosevelt,
Maya Angelou,
Mother Teresa,
and so many others…
Hear our prayer.

We honor our Sisters, Mothers, and Grandmothers,
Hear our prayer.

We honor all of those who are soon to be born and girls recently birthed.
Hear our prayer.

We honor all who are living now,
You are beautifully and wonderfully made,
May the world see you as a Woman and Girl of worth with an important voice.
Hear our prayer.

Provide Women and Girls with the opportunity and accessibility to learn and receive an education so that they can thrive.
Hear our prayer.

Give grace to all Women and Girls who are in danger, fearful, hungry, troubled, or in-need this day or everyday.
May you be given refuge and protect you from further harm.
Hear our prayer.

The pandemic has made the lives of Women and Girls more difficult around the world,
May these burdens be lessened.
Hear our prayer.

Bless and give a voice to all of the Women and Girls who are leaders today, whose leadership educates all the world on climate change, public health, science, injustice, the arts, and in so many other areas.
Hear our prayer.

May you provide access to spaces and leadership places that are not currently open to Women and Girls.
Hear our prayer.

Give us all reverence for the achievements of Women and Girls, as we are in awe of how you changed our world for the better.
Hear our prayer.

We thank all of the women and girls for their contributions to their families, community, economy, innovations, and world.
Hear our prayer.

May you empower the next generation of Women and Girls to build upon these contributions,
Hear our prayer.

May you, the Creator be ever present in the lives of Women and Girls,
And in these troubling times that you keep all Women and Girls safe and secure in Ukraine and beyond.
Hear our prayer.

Through Jesus Christ our Lord, we lift up all Women and Girls this day and everyday.
