A Lenten Word

Some say we must be tested

for COVID 19

yes, but let us say also we are being tested

by COVID 19

of what mettle we are, how brittle

a kettle cooked chip

an iron link binding us together

while keeping distance

do we know

no, we do not yet know

but moment by moment

we choose

what is set before us

scripture-googled ancient ago:  Deuteronomy 30:19

one preposition, one conjunction, one word

making all the difference

in the contradictions in which we are held

which we must hold

  1. Wow! This poem nails where we are with the challenges and fears facing us. May we grow and learn and hold what is important dearer in the days to come! Thank you.
