Springtime in New Jersey

Its approach

tiptoes, teases

with early warmth

retreating as

winter holds on

disappointment

even longing

within me.

Anticipation

increases,

gradually

buds become

petals appear

blossoms burst

muted, pale

at first

then

vibrant, bold.

Occurrences

flowers pop up

leaves develop

seemingly

overnight

like magic

trees shelter

umbrella-like.

Sounds

birds calling

wind blowing

streams rustling

children’s voices

noisy cries,

laughter, glee.

Wonders unfolding

clouds

billow, captivate

openings

like peepholes

contrasting shades

icy or brilliant

blue.

My senses awaken

causes me

to remember

other times

when darkness

diminished,

sunbeams

enchanted.

Bliss

returns with

smiles and joy

my heart expands

such happenings

enthrall

hope ignites

God’s mystery

prevails,

my faith

renewed.
