Growing up I remember all of the frenzy after the Thanksgiving holiday. From late November until Christmas, one of our family rituals was to attend the symphony to hear Handel’s Messiah and other Advent/Christmas music.
As children, this annual event represented excitement and
anticipation for the coming holiday, and the “presents” we would receive under the tree.
As an adult, the ritual of music at this time reminds me to thank God for his “presence”
in my life.
With God’s guidance, an open heart, and an open mind, Advent music represents the excitement of unknown blessings that may come my way.
