Some light for your late afternoon…

As we move into the darkest days of the year, I often think of my favorite author, Madeline L’Engle whose light filled my childhood.

Maybe you have to know the darkness before you can appreciate the light.

It’s a good thing to have all the props pulled out from under us occasionally. It gives us some sense of what is rock under our feet, and what is sand.

Faith is what makes life bearable, with all its tragedies and ambiguities and sudden, startling joys.

That’s the way things come clear. All of a sudden. And then you realize how obvious they’ve been all along.

We draw people to Christ not by loudly discrediting what they believe, by telling them how wrong they are and how right we are, but by showing them a light that is so lovely that they want with all their hearts to know the source of it.

Blessings to you this afternoon….
