Day 22 of Advent: A Favorite Worship Song…

One of the worship songs that impacted me most in my teens was “I Will Change Your Name” by D.J. Butler. Though it isn’t a Christmas song, it always palpably reminded me of the gift that Jesus brings to each and every one of us. It is a song that humbles me in its grace. It speaks of a healing that is available for all of us.

I found this version on YouTube and was moved by the young women telling the story of the song through dance.

I will change your name
You shall no longer be called
Wounded, outcast
Lonely or afraid
I will change your name
Your new name shall be
Confidence, joyfulness
Overcoming one
Faithfulness, friend of God
One who seeks my face.

In anticipation of the arrival of the greatest gift the world has ever known.

Blessings!
